October 18: Southport to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 41.1 miles
The morning brought showers and more showers resulting in the group extending time at the breakfast table in hopes that the rain would cease. By nine thirty am it was evident that the rain may slow but won't stop for several hours, so it is out onto the trail. The forecast was for warm and clearing by the afternoon so there was no long wet ride, only a short morning dampening.
The route headed south paralleling the coastline, but remaining for the most part in the interior. Development seem to be the theme of the area. Many homes of great portions are being built along side beautiful golf courses.
As we entered into South Carolina the signs of tourism were obvious from large scale billboards to T-shirt shops to surf shops to almost anything a summer beach vacationer would want. Myrtle Beach area is full of vacation homes and condos and golf courses galore.
Tonight's stay is in Little River, a northern suburb of Myrtle Beach. Tomorrow will be a rest day for most of the group. Frankie and I need to head back to our respective homes in the morning, so it is goodbye for now.
This will be the last entry for this trip. Much fun, great time, and a wonderful group of people once again.
Rapp on the Road is headed home until the next venture!!!
