January 15: Queenstown

The first day off the bike and a good time to explore the area by boat. The "TTS Earnslaw" is a coal burning steamer from 1912 -- one of the oldest tourist attractions in the area and only remaining commercial passenger-carrying coal-fired steamship in the southern hemisphere. While this day it carried four of the royal biking group to Walter Peak Farm, it has been known to carry other royality. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip as well as the King and Queen of Belgium, the Prince of Thailand and Bill Clinton have been known to cruise the lake on her.

The TSS Earnslaw also made a brief cameo appearance in the movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) as an boat.
